The Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s premium winemaking regions and boasts numerous cellar doors and pretty vineyards just waiting to be explored.

But the wine isn’t the only thing that draws in visitors by the thousands. In fact, the valley is also renowned for its delectable foodie selections, many of which are made up of locally grown, fresh produce.

Here are some of the best restaurants to try if you find yourself hungry in the Hunter Valley

  • 1. Yellow Billy

This memorable restaurant in the Hunter Valley was named after the legend of Yellow Billy. The food here is cooked over a custom-made fire pit, with all dishes created to be shared. Since everything is slow-roasted over the fire, the food has a delicious smokey and charred taste.

  • 2. Muse Kitchen

This European-styled bistro serves up modern and refined dishes that rotate by season. This is a perfect spot for a nice lunch, with options such as oysters and duck breast. And of course, there are plenty of options on the wine list too!

  • 3. Cafe Enzo

  • This charming cafe has been a staple in the Hunter Valley for over 25 years. This is an especially appealing place to visit on a sunny day. Enjoy a delicious cafe meal on the patio in the courtyard, complete with a large flowing fountain.

  • 4. Usher Tinkler Wines

This restaurant sits in a renovated church located in the heart of the Hunter Valley. Sip on some of the locally crafted wines and enjoy a delicious meal or snack on a grazing platter.

  • 5. Spicers Vineyards Estate – Botanica Restaurant

Set in one of the Valley’s vineyards, this restaurant offers a romantic place to grab a bite to eat. The dining room is particularly spectacular, with views out across the vineyard and beyond to the Brokenback Mountain Range. You can choose from a range of gourmet dishes here to keep the hunger pangs at bay.

  • 6. Tamburlaine Vineyard Cellar Door

Another of the Valley’s vineyards provides excellent foodie fodder. This huge producer of organic wines also carries out private tastings for visitors who want to learn more about the region’s local produce and try flavours that reflect the serene calm of the valley.

  • 7. Sabor Dessert Bar

  • No meal is complete without dessert! The Sabor Dessert Bar is a fantastic option to get your sweets fix. With both a dine-in and takeaway menu, there are plenty of options to choose from. Why not try a macaron, a Portuguese tart, or a delicious chocolate mousse? We’ll have one of everything, please!
