Take off for a fantastic getaway for both you and your tastebuds at Australia’s oldest wine-growing region

The Hunter Valley is a paradise for any wine-lover. It is Australia’s oldest and most famous wine region. Jam-packed with lush countryside and vast spans of unique vineyards. The region offers a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of the busy city.

Hunter Valley’s History

The Hunter Valley is celebrated throughout the world for its exceptional winemaking heritage. The region’s boutique wines began in the 1820s but started off to a rough start with only a mere 20 acres of vineyards planted by 1823. However, after the arrival of around 500 different vine cuttings taken from Europe and South Africa, the wine’s quality and quantity improved. The wine imitations using these foreign vines produced some of the most superior wines in the entire country, bringing on board a vast number of winemakers to the region.

How to Get to Hunter Valley

  • Car

Hunter Valley’s location makes it a popular holiday spot thanks to its easy access from Sydney, only about a two-hour journey to get to. Many travellers and Sydney siders hire a car for the day or weekend, setting off along the scenic route for a short escape from the city. It is by far the most popular ways of travel, with the freedom to come and go as you please. Either choosing to take your time and marvel at each sight or do an express visit and merely stop into a couple of top locations if you are in a hurry. A downside for this type of travel depends on if you are a drinker, as if you are looking for a full day hopping from winery to winery, driving in between them isn’t the best or most legal option.

  • Train

If you are interested in a scenic journey from the city, why not sit back and relax while taking the three-hour train ride? There are two ways to train out to the lush greenery, either by the CityRail and the Country link express service. Simply look up the train timetables, looking at the Maitland or Morisset CityRail roster, and the country link express service to Singleton.

  • Bus Tour

Skip all the hassle of organising train times or car routes and simply book a tour for the day or weekend! Kick back and unwind on one of the many organised days available in the region! Letting you hop on the bus at Sydney’s main centre accommodations and head off to explore the delights in the region. Although some might be expensive, the inclusions and the ongoing transportation are well worth the extra cost.

So, what are you waiting for? Spend a day, a weekend, or even a week sipping a glass of local wine or tucking into a platter of local meats and cheeses. regardless of if you are looking for a blissed-out break or an exhilarating journey, the Hunter Valley is the perfect place to ogle the Australian countryside.
