How to get to Cessnock

Whether you are coming from Sydney or Newcastle, it is easier to get to Cessnock by car. A car journey can take about 2 hours from Sydney or an hour from Newcastle. Even though you can get public transport to Cessnock, it can be a bit more difficult to then explore the rest of the town and the Hunter Valley region.

The Hunter Valley is renowned for its semillon wines which you can try at local wineries. With over 150 wineries in the region, there is an excellent selection close to Cessnock! If you are in a large group or visiting during busy periods, it is ideal to book wine tastings early to avoid missing out. Smaller groups should be fine for a walk-in wine tasting, but you can call ahead or book online for peace of mind.

Wine Country is always filled with some of the best award-winning restaurants. You will find a lot of the wineries will have restaurants attached to them. Within Cessnock, some of the best eateries to visit for a mouthwatering meal include Vincent Street Kitchen and Bar, Italian Cottage Restaurant, and Cessnock Leagues Club.

Perfect for the whole family, the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park is full of wildlife from Australia and the rest of the world. There are chances to get up close with an animal and pick one of the many encounters. You can play with the meerkats and squirrel monkeys or feed the lions and giraffes.
