What exactly is the Hunter Valley Gardens?

Hunter Valley Gardens, New South Wales

The Hunter Valley Gardens has something for everybody to enjoy, with 10 internationally themed gardens, several permanent rides, a shopping village, and wonderful accommodation and dining facilities. It is somewhat like a little magical world of its own, full of exciting and beautiful things. Although the Hunter Valley Region is most famous for its production of wine, the gardens are a great place to explore if you are not a keen drinker or wish to bring the kids with you!

Display Gardens

The display gardens are certainly the highlight of the region, with 10 separate gardens that all have their own unique theme. When visiting it is like you are transported into another world with each different garden, as they are all so incredibly beautiful. The storybook Garden and the Rose Garden are the most popular, with the Rose Garden encompassing over 35,000 rose bushes, and an unbelievable 10-metre-tall waterfall. The Storybook Garden is a favourite for the kids, as through out it there are nursery rhyme characters like Jack and Jill, Alice in Wonderland and Humpty Dumpty.

Entertaining rides

Another huge attraction of the Hunter Valley Gardens is the adrenaline pumping rides. They include the enormous 11-metre-tall swing chair that enables you to see spectacular views of the gardens. The classic Ferris wheel, a traditional venetian carousel, a historical garden train, and the massive 35-metre long super slide! Conquer your fear of heights and be sure to experience one or many of these incredible rides.

The Shopping Village

The Hunter Valley Gardens Shopping Village is located just near the entrance to the gardens themselves. This is a great place to pick up a special souvenir from one of the many artisans giftshops. It is full of stunning and unique shops, restaurants, and cafes that offer decadent meals, snacks, authentic coffee, wine produced in the region, as well as so many locally produced food, produce, wine and beautiful gifts.
