The Hunter Valley is located in New South Wales and is one of Australia’s most important wine regions.
Hunter Valley is best known for its outstanding wines such as Semillon and Shiraz. Pokolbin is the main town in the Hunter Valley. This town is in the centre of the Lower Hunter Valley region. Pokolbin has some of the best wineries, restaurants and shops.
Tempus Two Cellar Door
A trip to the Hunter Valley region is complete without visiting at least one winery. There are so many great wineries to visit in the region, especially in Pokolbin. Tempus Two has many wines for different occasions and tasty foods to pair with them. Some of the best sellers at Tempus Two include the 2022 Copper Verdelho and the 2022 Copper rosè. The Copper Verdelho is award-winning and has a citrus and pineapple aroma. The Copper rosè is easy to drink with strawberry and musk aromas. When you visit the cellar door, you can get a wine tasting experience. They now do a gin tasting too!
Hunter Valley Chocolate Company
The Hunter Valley Chocolate Company has been open for more than 20 years. The Chocolate Company is now one of the main attractions in the region. The shop has the finest Belgian couverture chocolate and freshly made fudge. There are chocolate coated pretzels and jersey caramels to rocky road and chocolate sauce to buy. There is a cafe where you can enjoy chocolates and other sweets. Don’t forget to try their hot chocolate too when you are there!
Hunter Valley Gardens
The Hunter Valley Gardens is a beautiful garden for visitors to soak up the landscape and nature. Walk along the path to see thousands of plants, trees, and shrubs. There are waterfalls, murals, and statues in the garden as well. There are 10 different themed gardens with native and exotic plants. Some of the gardens you should check out are the rose garden, storybook garden and Italian grotto. During December, there is the Christmas Lights Spectacular in the Garden Village. You will have to buy tickets to see the Garden Village throughout the year.
Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop
The Smelly Cheese Shop has some of the finest local, Australian, and imported cheese. The shop is a great way to try some of the local Hunter Valley cheese. The Smelly Cheese Shop has everything from cheddar cheese, and soft cheese to jam and sweets. While there, sit down to enjoy some food and drinks, and enjoy the views. Don’t forget to try the shop house made baked cheesecake!
