Unsure about the best way to soak up the summer sun during your weekend in Hunter Valley.

Do not despair, as we have gathered up the best activities this region has in store for 2020’s upcoming summer season. Offering unforgettable experiences to share with your friends and family, whether it be exploring lush vineyards, indulging in delicious food, or marvelling at the sheer natural beauty this area has to offer.

  • Visit the Zoo

    See the fantastic home to Hunter Valley’s greatest creatures! Meeting the local animals such as kangaroos, wombats, koalas, and more all at once! There are even a few international animals to meet, including the king of the jungle!

  • Take an Air Balloon Ride

    Beat the heat and start your day bright and early, hopping out of bed even before the sun rises! Here you can take flight and reach up to the clouds as you marvel valley below. Seeing the magic of Hunter Valley from above, as the landscape changes colour from the rising sun. Afterwards landing back onto solid ground, you can enjoy breakfast at Peterson House, enjoying the pastries, eggs, and coffee on offer to refuel for the rest of the day!

  • Enjoy a picnic

    One of the best ways to enjoy the valley in summer is to spend an afternoon out in the lush greenery. Setting up a picnic rug and grabbing some local cheese, crackers, chocolate, and of course wine to enjoy in the sun! While finding the perfect spot, you can go to a number of factories and wineries to pick out some goodies for your lunch, even buying extra to take back home once you are done! Pokolbin Hill Park is atop a hill on McDonald’s Road, being one of the best views around. Letting you marvel at the vineyards with the Brokenback mountains in the backdrop. If you are after a bit more privacy, you can head to Wollombi, as the picnic region here is usually less crowded.

  • Indulge your Sweet Tooth

    What better way to cool off from the sun than with a delightful cone of gelato? Nothing says summer like the Hunter Valley’s own gelato company, location on both Broke Road and in the Smelly Cheese Shop! The gelato flavours are all hand done, with creamy and mouthwatering varieties such as the classics lemon, passionfruit, and mango, as well as a few unusual types like grapefruit, pistachio, and dark chocolate!
