Nothing beats finding a unique item at a local market in the Hunter Valley wine region.
The Hunter Valley not only boasts incredible wine, being a popular wine region in Australia but it is also known for its markets. Markets are a great way to discover unique finds from locals who use their skills to create items, whether it’s food, clothing, housewares, or anything else.
No matter what unique find you’re looking for, you could come across it at one of the different Hunter Valley markets.
Hunter Valley markets
With a range of markets operating in the Hunter Valley, you’ll be surprised to see what unique items you could come across at different stalls.
– Handmade In The Hunter Markets
Without a doubt, you’ll leave the market with something in hand, whether it’s for yourself or a family member or friend. Handmade In The Hunter Markets are hosted at Sobel Wines on most weekends throughout the year. The markets showcase a great variety of stalls filled with items made by locals.
Around the corner in Lovedale, there are hot air balloons that depart every morning to watch the sunset. This is the perfect way to start the morning before checking out the markets.
– Wollombi Village Markets
The Wollombi Village Markets only run on Mondays of a long weekend. They generally occur around Easter, in June, and October. You can expect there to be 100 stalls filled with a variety of options like clothes, crafts, plants, produce, and much more.
The town of Wollombi was established in 1830 and is rather historic. It’s worth spending time in the town to explore after you’ve stopped by the markets.
– Broke Community Markets
On the first Sunday of every month, you can expect the Broke Community Markets to be running with plenty of stalls. From 9 AM to 1 PM, you can walk around the markets, checking out the stalls that sell a range of handmade products from local families.
While in the region, don’t forget to do a wine tasting at a few local wineries and try a selection of Hunter Valley wines.
– Maitland Community Markets
The Maitland Community Markets are another market that runs on the first Sunday of every month (except January). There is a wide range of stallholders selling products from secondhand items to handcrafted goods, and of course, plenty of delicious cooked food and fresh produce.
Markets can be a great way to spend a morning, checking out the stalls and picking up something you’ve never seen before. Check the online pages for any market, as they can be cancelled due to wet weather. But if the day looks sunny, you can expect them to proceed as planned.
